Sometimes like everyone who puts themselves out there on social media, I often can feel vulnerable and well basically sick of myself. I have the constant struggle with putting myself out there too much and then not enough but sometimes the thought of posting another picture of myself can make me feel sort of empty.
So many people use Instagram as a platform to promote what they are passionate about. Like a good friend who has a child with autism, uses it to connect with other special needs parents, or a friend who is into healthy eating, will post pictures of food that she made that is nutritional and most recently a friend who has a house in the Bahamas was trying to raise awareness and money for the people who were devastated by the hurricane.
While all these people are trying to better the world or benefit their experience as a mother, I am telling you what shirt to buy and sometimes that can make me feel insignificant or shallow. Like I said, I annoy myself and get annoyed by the whole “fashion influencer” thing.
I often have to remind myself that this is something I do for fun, that fashion and clothes are something that allows me to be creative and have an outlet from just being a mom. That just because your passion is helping people feel better about the way they dress shouldn’t be compared to other people’s passion. I think this is where social media becomes so tricky is when you start comparing yourself to other people.
Social media for me is always a double edge sword. Somedays I feel very ambitious and confident and other days I just feel like I want to give up on it all together. I think anything in life you need to outweigh the good with the bad and I truly enjoy styling people and having the social community that comes along with blogging.
And at the end of the day, I love to get dressed up, especially in a floral ruffle dress, a pearly headband and some fun sunnies and share it with everyone!! So I hope you all enjoy it as much as I do.
This dress and headband are available at the Fred Shop in Westport and Old Greenwich, CT and if you aren’t local, you can find it below.
