When I started blogging 6 years ago, I had this sweet FIT student Allie take my pictures. We would trudge out in all types of weather and I always thought she was wise beyond her years. In regards to my blog or anything that took hard work, she would always say, “Rome wasn’t built overnight” and that is something I always try and remember.
Blogging might not seem like a lot of work but behind the scenes it is a decent amount. Creating content, hosting events, styling clients, working on collaborations all can be very time consuming especially when you’re juggling being a mom and a wife. With that being said, I have the busiest few days coming up with clients, a holiday collaboration I’m working on, a 40th birthday party in the city, the grand opening fashion show that I’m styling at Bloomingdales this weekend and then heading to Boston on Sunday for my sister in law’s baby shower.
But this is all the things that I’ve worked so hard for and that I enjoy doing. My husband always says, “the idle mind is the devil’s playground” and I truly believe in my case it is the truth. I thrive when I’m running in a thousand directions and I’m under stress. It gives me a rush and a sense of accomplishment. I’ve recently just come to the conclusion that I am the most unhappy when I have nothing to do. I know that isn’t the case for everyone and I want to say that I’m VERY fortunate to have parents that help out a ton so I can make this all happen. To me when the days all seem the same and I have stayed in workout clothes all day, I just end up feeling depressed.
To me, keeping busy is staying sane and it makes me feel human every day to get dressed, do my hair and put make up on. So I’m not going to complain about the next crazy few days because I feel so fortunate and I’ve worked hard to get here. So I will keep plugging along and don’t be surprised when you see me at the grocery store all dressed up. It just makes me happy.
