If you’ve been following along for some time, you will know I love a good sweater and skirt combo and I love it even more when it is monochromatic.
When Meghan Markle stepped out last week in an all brown look, I was in love and went on the hunt for a satin brown skirt to match my brown sweater. I dreamed of her brown velvet shoes but I probably wouldn’t get a lot of use out of them and I don’t spend a lot of money on things I can’t wear with a lot of my wardrobe.
I added a navy plaid jacket to break up the browns and paired it with my favorite (and most comfortable) Loeffer Randall boots. After Meghan stepped out in her monochromatic brown outfit, the next day her and Harry announced they were leaving the Royal Family. I have the Daily Mail app on my phone where I like to read up on the latest tabloid gossip and I feel so bad about how horrible the press is treating her.
I think it’s really hard to be part of the constant scrutiny that comes along with marrying royalty and it’s very easy to say she knew what she was getting into before she married him but did she really? They are constantly putting her down and digging up random family members to embarrass and harass her. It’s painful to watch sometimes. And who knows, maybe Harry wanted to leave and not raise his son under the microscope that he grew up under.
I often feel the media can be so relentless that they almost forget that these are REAL human beings they are attacking with feelings and emotions. They are someone’s daughter, wife, mother, friend and just because they look like they have a fairy tail life from the outside, doesn’t mean they really do. Jim Carrey once said, “I think everybody should get rich and famous and do everything they ever dreamed of so they can see that it’s not the answer”. I feel like just because you have the whole world at your fingertips doesn’t mean you are free game to be pulled apart and attacked for everything you do.
I hope the next chapter brings them lots of happiness because at the end of the day, isn’t that all that really matters, royalty or not is to be happy? I think they are going to go on to do amazing things in this world and I hope they can rise above and do that. Maybe the press can start focusing on all the good they do instead of all the mistakes they make. After all, they are only human.
